Stuckness and Life Purpose

Feeling stuck sucks.  Usually, feeling stuck indicates you have underlying conflicts.  When you want different things that are in conflict with each other, you end up going nowhere.  Stuckness can also indicate identity issues - questions of life purpose and meaning.  Sometimes a stuckness gets blown up by a “mid-life crisis,” where you end up not stuck anymore, but there may be some wreckage around.  You may have a sense of something missing in your life, an emptiness.

It’s hard to know what to do with vague, nagging feelings.  It’s hard to know how to solve an impossible-seeming existential question like, “why am I here?”  Psychodynamic psychotherapy works slowly to find and follow the paths in your mind that are concealed beneath these stuck feelings.  By honoring your mind with deep curiosity and an effort to think out loud the best you can without censorship, we will find clues about yourself and your history that will help liberate you from the stuckness.
